Your new home will have been fitted with Energy Efficient Lighting, replacements are widely available from you local DIY Centre.

Lighting accounts for 8% of a typical household's energy bills and cutting your lighting bill is one of the easiest ways to save energy and money in the home.

Within your property we have replaced the traditional light bulb with energy efficient light bulbs called compact fluorescent (CFL's) bulbs, when comparing the same brightness bulbs you and will typically save around £3 per year, or £55 over the life of the bulb.

Of course, the easiest way to save on your lighting bill is simply to turn off the light when you're not using it. You will ALWAYS save energy if you turn the light out when you leave the room, even if it's only for a minute or two.

What is luminous efficacy?

The luminous efficacy of a light bulb is the measure of the efficiency with which the source provides visible light from a given amount of electricity. Those bulbs with a higher luminous efficacy will produce more light for the same amount of electricity then those will less efficacy and, are therefore considered, more efficient.
