Energy Performance Certificates

Energy Performance Certificates are required on new building domestic dwellings under Part L1A and commercial buildings under part L2A of the building regulation. The EPC can be used by potential purchases.....

As approved and registered members of the Elmhurst Energy Government approved Accreditation Scheme our On Construction Domestic Energy Assessors are able to produce Energy Performance Certificates for all new build domestic dwellings, this includes conversions of existing dwellings.

The Energy Performance Certificate

When constructing a new dwelling you are required to show that you are meeting the latest Building Regulations with respect to Energy Usage and CO², the UK Government is using the provision of Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) calculated using the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) to full fill EU Regulations.

The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) records a home's energy and CO2 emission performance. The certificates use a scale from A to G to show the energy efficiency of the dwelling. Those in Band A are the most efficient and therefore are those that should save most on energy bills.

SAP Assessments

Before we produce an Energy Performance Certificate we must carry out a SAP Assessment on all dwellings, this is done at design stage, whilst the EPC is produce once the dwelling has been complete. If required to produce the EPC we can also carry out Air Pressure Testing.

Predictive Energy Assessments (PEA)

The Energy Performance Certificate is only released once the dwelling has been completed and information required for the 'As Built' SAP has been supplied to the assessor. Until the dwelling has been completed the developer should use the Predictive Energy Assessment.
